Physical vs. Mental.

This particular subject I could talk about for days. It truly gets me steaming angry when people mistake physical differences from mental. Great example from today I'll share with you. When I leave school, my bus leaves like five minutes earlier because I right a SPED(SPECIAL ED) bus. If I could I would change this, but I can't.. there is no buses for people in wheelchairs who are not SPEDS because appearently everyone in a wheelchair is a SPED. There I go, ranting and raving.. so back to the story. So when I leave to get on my bus there is usually a person waiting there for me and the two other SPEDS. I told her not to wait for me many times because I do not need a person to walk me to my freaking bus right out the door. But no, she waits for all of us and let's us out the door and watch us get on the bus. I did not know that watching capable kids board a bus was a part of her job description and if it is, ladies and gents.. your tax dollars are being spent just wonderfully! When people first meet me, they have 100000 assumtions. I don't even want to know some of them, but they most likely go like this. 1. She doesn't go out. 2. She is a SPED. 3. She's a nerd. When I first meet anyone, I throw out a few choice swear words. I don't do this to be rude or anything.. but it let's them know hey, she might be older then I expected. My school especially! My mom has battled with the school, the board, and everyone about them getting the hell off of my back. Last year my friend was taking me to that bathroom because I wouldn't let any nurses or aides help me. When she found out, she called my mom in a frantic voice informing my mom of the "serious situation." That has to make you laugh. So, my mom told her that my friends have always helped me and they are more capable and limber then some old ladies. It then spun into a huge battle. My mom battling for the rights of my privacy and the school defending their liability or whatever. After threats, and heated discussions and meetings they said they would agree with a don't know don't tell kinda thing. So basically they are going to say they told me not to have a friend help me, but I do anyways but they "don't know." Whatever, I hate that school. Remember it's easy to make assumptions, but get to know the person more first because they might have something more to offer that you'll pass up.
